We provide 2 different county profiles for the southern Illinois area. The first database, located through the link below, was compiled by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute in partnership with SIU's School of Medicine and The Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development. The database contains data for 21 of the southern Illinois counties. The first spreadsheet has overall data for the 21 counties, followed by 21 spreadsheets with data for each serparate county. The remaining spreadsheets have misc. data and data categories provided for all of the southern Illinois counties listed by county.
21 County Database
The second database, for 22 counties of southern Illinois, is based on a select group of
health and socio-economic indicators. This dataset could be of interest to policy
planners, academic scholars, researchers and social service agencies who seek to
develop research agendas, procure external funding, conduct pure/theoretical
research, and/or identify populations for which agencies provide services.
The data was compiled from various web based data systems such as the U.S. Census
Bureau, Illinois Project for Local Assessment of Needs (IPLAN), Illinois Department of
Employment Security (Labor Market Information), Illinois Department of Aging,
Illinois State Police Report, Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois
Department of Human Services, Illinois KidCare, Anne E. Casey Foundation, and
Government Information Sharing Project of Oregon State University.
These files are developed in MS-Word and contain links to web-addresses thus
allowing flexibility to those who may use the digital file to browse the web for
further information on specific counties and data. Click on one of the counties listed below to bring up the profile.
