Internship and Practicum Opportunities

The Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development (CRHSSD) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) conducts research, needs assessments, demonstration projects, program evaluations, and trainings; tests new models of health care delivery; and develops policy recommendations to improve the health of our rural communities. The purpose of CRHSSD is to bring together University resources…faculty, staff, and students…to work with area agencies to address pressing health and social service problems of the region. The CRHSSD Internship is primarily for graduate students who are seeking hands-on administrative, research, or training experiences in the following areas: Health Education; Educational Psychology; Rehabilitation Administration; Sociology; Social Work; Workforce Development; Curriculum and Instruction; Psychology or Economics (Health Care Interest).

The CRHSSD has a limited number of internship positions each semester. Interns may work directly with CRHSSD staff or work with a community agency. Deadlines for application submission are March 1st for Fall Semester and October 1st for Spring Semester. Applications can be downloaded from the CRHSSD website or picked up at the CRHSSD office from 9 am-4 pm.
