Kathy Doan, Program Administrative Assistant Kathy is the assistant to the director. She supervises other CRHSSD clerical staff. She is responsible for managing budget and personnel paperwork. |

Heather M. Hartung, MPH,
IDN Project Coordinator Heather has worked in rural health for five years at the local, state, and national level. Heather’s interest areas include access to care, training development, quality improvement, and the social determinants of health. Heather received her bachelor’s degree in School and Community Health Education from Winona State University (Minnesota) and completed a Master’s in Public Health from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. |

Darla Lowe, Office Administrator Darla coordinates all CRHSSD advisory board and executive committee meetings and correspondence. She provides clerical support for the CRHSSD staff and supervises student employees. |

| Edith Ng'oma, M.S., Live Free-Tobacco Free Project Coordinator Edith started her employment at CRHSSD in November 2007. Her responsibilities include: planning and writing grants and budgets, developing materials and projects, managing and coordinating developed or assigned health and social service projects as well as research and evaluating activities within the CRHSSD. Edith has worked in education and on HIV/AIDS issues with not-for profit making organizations in her native country, Zambia , for several years. She has also been involved as a lead trainer in street health and street work programming streams and presented papers widely in Africa, Europe, North & South America and South Asia on the topic of the impact of HIV/AIDS on marginalized youth. Edith received her bachelor's degree in Education and Psychology at the University of Zambia and completed a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. |

Dan Shannon, M.S., Field Representative Mr. Shannon has many years experience in teaching, research, and service in the areas of health and injury control. He has been published many times in refereed journals. Mr. Shannon’s specialties are in health and safety issues, including occupant protection, drinking and driving programs, curriculum writing, program evaluation, and community based needs assessments. |

Teufel, MPH, ABD, Researcher II Mr. Teufel, M.P.H., Evaluator/Researcher for CRHSSD, has several years of experience in grant development, grant management, administration, research, and evaluation in the areas of psychology and public health. Most recently, he has worked as an administrator and psychological researcher on the NICHD Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development, as a researcher for the CNA Corporation’s Appalachian Regional Education Laboratory, and a consultant on NAHEC’s KidsHealth KidsPoll as well as providing evaluation services and grant writing guidance to Southern Illinois Healthcare and Shawnee Health Service. He also serves on the Steering Committee of the Illinois Coalition for School Health Centers and as the Co-Chair of the Programming and Evaluation Committee. With experience working with nationally recognized research institutes, universities, and local non-profit organizations, he displays well rounded expertise in the area of grant writing, research, and evaluation. |

Elaine M. Vitello, Ph.D., Co-Director Live Free-Tobacco Free Dr. Vitello serves as the Co-Director for the Live Free-Tobacco Free grant at SIUC. One of her primary responsibilities is participating in the training of other postsecondary institutions regarding replication of the Live Free-Tobacco Free Initiative on their respective campuses. Dr. Vitello is the former Dean of SIUC College of Applied Sciences and Arts. |

Mike Weiand, M.S., Rural Health Project Specialist Mike began working for CRHSSD in 2007. He has a BS in Information Systems Technologies and a MS in Geography and Environmental Resources with a focus in Geographic Information Science, both from SIUC. Mike provides GIS analysis and mapping for the Rural Medical Transport Network project. His background in information technology has been gained through a number of different environments, including business, education, and entrepreneurial. His interests include transportation networks, spatial analysis and Internet solutions. |

Shinji Ogita, MA/Graduate Assistant
Shinji is a master's student in Kinesiology. He has a B.S. in dietetics. At the CRHSSD, he assists with research. |

Assistant Hao-Ting is a master's student in Kinesiology. He has a MA in TESOL and is currently working towards the second master's degree in Sport Studies. At the CRHSSD, he provides technology support and website maintenance. |
