The Saluki Masters Swim Club is a swim fitness program for adults interested in swimming for exercise. We offer structured workouts along with coaching and camaraderie to help improve your stroke and develop strength, speed and endurance in your swimming. You determine your level of participation.


Meeting Times

Meeting times are available Monday - Saturday. Come as often as your schedule allows. We meet in the Dr Edward J Shea Natatorium at the Southern Illinois University Student Recreation Center in Carbondale, Illinois.

Monday through Friday, 6 am - 7:30 am (Early Birds 5:30 am), Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 pm - 7 pm, Saturday, 8 am - 9:30 am.

Saturday practice is followed by Breakfast of Champions optional social event.

Requirements to Join

·  Must be at least 18 years of age to join U. S. Masters Swimming.

·  Have an SIUC Recreation Center Use pass. 

A limited use pass or community use pass is available to purchase for individuals who might otherwise not be eligible to use the Student Recreation Center.

How good do I have to be?

Participants of all ability levels are welcome. The only requirement is that you have a strong positive attitude and a sincere desire to improve your swimming ability and fitness level. At least intermediate swimming ability is recommended.

What is the cost?

First two weeks are free. 


A monthly fee of $15.00 for students and $30 for Faculty/Staff and other non-students, payable at the beginning of any month in which you attend at least one practice. 


Or a Saturday Only Option of $5 per session, payable at the time of the practice (no credit extended). If a Saturday Only swimmer attends any weekday practice, he/she will owe the monthly fee for that month with credit for any $5 Saturday fees already paid for that month. 


Annual dues of $40 for required insurance coverage with U. S. Masters Swimming and a subscription to an excellent magazine.

Discount dues of $25 for full-time students ages 18-25 and swimmers 75 and older. 


 

Checks should be made payable to Saluki Masters.

How do I get started?

Just show up at any scheduled practice time, ready to swim! Our coach will be in the pool area and will introduce you to our workout program.
