FACULTY STATUS AND WELFARE COMMITTEE
ATTACHMENT BResolution to Adopt Intellectual Property Policy
RATIONALE: Intrinsic to the University’s educational mission are research, scholarly, and creative activities that produce new knowledge and understanding. Basic policies of the University support, protect, and ensure freedom of inquiry, creative development, and unrestricted dissemination of that knowledge. In recognition thereof, the Faculty Status and Welfare Committee of the Faculty Senate proposes the following:
WHEREAS fairness and consistency demand that Southern Illinois University Carbondale have a single Intellectual Property Policy protecting the entire university community; and
WHEREAS the Faculty Association and the SIUC administration have negotiated a new Intellectual Property Agreement and the Board of Trustees has approved its application to members of the bargaining unit;
BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate recommends that the new Intellectual Property Agreement be adopted as policy campus-wide, effective immediately.
