UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE
ATTACHMENT DResolution to Approve the Transfer in Administrative Location
of the Program in Fashion Design and MerchandisingWHEREAS the Fall 2002 program review of the Fashion Design and Merchandising major recommended the transfer of the major from the Department of Workforce Education and Development to the Department of Architectural Studies and Interior Design; and
WHEREAS the rationale for such a recommendation -- to save on administrative overhead, to create interdisciplinary initiatives, and to enhance learning opportunities – remains compelling; and
WHEREAS the faculty affected by the change – in the program itself as well as in the relevant departments – have unanimously agreed to the transfer; and
WHEREAS the budgetary implications are minimal, such that the deans of the respective colleges have approved the transfer; and
WHEREAS the curriculum in the major remains what it has been;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that Faculty Senate approve the transfer of the program in Fashion Design and Merchandising from the Department of Workforce Education and Development, College of Education and Human Services, to the Department of Architectural Studies and Interior Design, College of Applied Sciences and Arts.
