Resolution to Recommend the Return of Undergraduate
Admissions and Records to the Purview of the
Provost and Vice Chancellor’s Office

WHEREAS admissions, recruitment, and retention of undergraduate students are as much a concern to the Provost and Vice Chancellor’s office as they are to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management’s office; and

WHEREAS faculty are equally concerned about admissions, recruitment, and retention, particularly in the setting of the standards for undergraduate admissions as stated in the Faculty Handbook; and

WHEREAS administrative responsibility for undergraduate admissions and records was transferred from the Provost and Vice Chancellor to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management in 2000; and

WHEREAS Faculty Senate has recently considered undergraduate admissions in the context of recruitment and retention and understands that these matters are closely linked;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Faculty Senate recommend to the Chancellor that administrative purview of undergraduate admissions and records be returned to the Provost and Vice Chancellor’s office, effective Fall 2004.
