ATTACHMENT CResolution to Approve the B.S. in Forensic Science,
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of ScienceWHEREAS the field of forensic science provides employment opportunities for graduates of undergraduate programs "to produce a growing core of well educated citizens with sophisticated knowledge of current technology, who are capable of joining forces with Illinois law enforcement agencies"; and
WHEREAS the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Science has developed a New Program Request to address this objective, in collaboration with the Department of Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts, with the participation and/or concurrence of other departments with relevant expertise; and
WHEREAS the Provost's office has decided to include the funding of this new program in its RAMP 05 request of the IBHE for additions to SIUC's base budget, so that resources should soon be available to offer a BS in Forensic Science; and
WHEREAS the College of Science and the College of Liberal Arts have taken pains to acquire all the necessary faculty and administrative approvals for this new program;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate approve the New Program Request for a BS in Forensic Science, subject to the availability of new money to fund it and to the appropriate revision of the document for IBHE approval.
