UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE
ATTACHMENT B

Resolution to Recommend Approval of the RME Proposal to
Create Two New Program Specializations in the B.S. In Forestry

WHEREAS two new undergraduate specializations in the B.S. in Forestry -- Urban Forest Management and Forest Hydrology -- provide undergraduate majors the opportunity to more clearly focus and tailor their forestry education to meet the growing demand for employment in the areas of urban forestry, hydrology, and watershed management; and

WHEREAS there are no budget or staffing implications as a consequence of the new specializations, nor is there any problem with competing programs in other departments, such as Geography, Environmental Studies, and Management, which have provided concurrences for the proposed RME;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that upon the recommendation of the Undergraduate Education Policy Committee, Faculty Senate approve the addition of the Urban Forest Management and Forest Hydrology specializations to the B.S. in Forestry.
