FACULTY SENATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
ATTACHMENT AResolution to Endorse the Faculty Advisory Council to the Illinois Board of
Higher Education’s Proposal for a Seventh Goal for the Illinois CommitmentWHEREAS the Illinois Board of Higher Education identified six goals for the higher education community in Illinois: economic growth, cooperation between higher education and K-12, affordability, diversity, improvement of learning standards and accountability [see link]; and
WHEREAS while the six identified goals are appropriate, the Faculty Advisory Council is of the opinion the identified goals fail to recognize and value the important role higher education plays in contributing to the overall quality of life enjoyed by the citizens of Illinois; and
WHEREAS the Faculty Advisory Council proposed to the Illinois Board of Higher Education that a seventh goal--The collective efforts of Illinois colleges and universities will enhance and enrich the quality of life for all Illinois citizens—be added to the Illinois Commitment;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate endorse the Faculty Advisory Council’s proposal to add a seventh goal to the Illinois Commitment. [see link]
