Resolution to Modify the Vocational Teacher Development Specialization
in the Undergraduate Major in Workforce Education and Development,
College of Education and Human Services

WHEREAS the Vocational Teacher Development specialization has been included in the catalog description for the Workforce Education and Development (WED) major since the major was developed with Faculty Senate approval; and

WHEREAS even though no students were ever enrolled, the specialization was retained until the Illinois State Teacher Certification Board (ISTCB) granted SIUC authority to certify teachers in health careers and in technology education (industrial technology); and

WHEREAS in July 2002 the ISTCB approved SIUC’s request to certify the WED programs in health careers education and technology education, whose catalog copy needs to be modified accordingly; and

WHEREAS the Department of Workforce Education and Development has provided the appropriate RME for these new specializations;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Faculty Senate recommend the approval of WED’s new specializations leading to certification of teachers in health careers education and in technology education (industrial technology) for the B.S. in Workforce Education and Development, College of Education and Human Services.
