ATTACHMENT AResolution to Approve the NEPR for a B.S.
in Veterinary Science in the College of AgricultureWHEREAS the new degree program is structured to provide the academic coursework and practical experience requirements associated with establishing a competitive position for college of veterinary medicine admissions, thereby preparing graduates to compete in the highly selective admissions process into such colleges; and
WHEREAS the major is designed for students interested in proceeding to a college of veterinary medicine or a graduate degree program in the disciplines of animal biology, animal/dairy science, microbiology, medicine, or biochemistry; and
WHEREAS the major will also prepare students for a multiple of related fields within animal production and animal health which require scientific-based academic preparation; and
WHEREAS this program will be unique to both region and state as no other B.S. in Veterinary Science is offered by a state-supported institution in Illinois; and
WHEREAS this action is supported by the administration and faculty of the College of Agriculture and its Department of Animal Science, Food and Nutrition, and has been favorably considered by the Dean's Council and the Chancellor's Planning and Budget Council;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate approve the B.S. in Veterinary Science, College of Agriculture, subject to external funding and the revised NEPR submitted July 12, 2001.
