Resolution to Approve an RME to Establish a Minor in Art History
in the School of Art and Design

WHEREAS a number of undergraduates majoring in art have taken art history courses above and beyond the current requirements of 12 credit hours for the B.A. and 15 credit hours for the B.F.A., and have expressed interest in pursuing a minor in art history; and

WHEREAS the art history faculty have documented a sufficient demand among undergraduates in the School of Art and Design to justify this minor; and

WHEREAS the undergraduate minor will be accommodated within the current teaching loads of participating faculty and the administrative duties associated with the management of the program will be handled by existing staff; and

WHEREAS implementation of this undergraduate minor program will not require additional equipment, facilities, or budget;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate approve and recommend to the appropriate administrative bodies this College's request to establish a minor in art history; and that the 2002-2003 SIUC Undergraduate Catalog be edited in all instances appropriate to reflect this change: effective Fall semester 2001, or as soon as possible thereafter.
