UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE ATTACHMENT B Resolution to Recommend Approval of the RME to Change the Name of Paralegal Studies WHEREAS the Standing Committee on Legal Assistants changed its name to the Standing Committee on Paralegals in 2003, thereby ratifying a national trend in the profession's nomenclature; and WHEREAS Paralegal actually refers to a more precise position in the field for which the Paralegal Program is actually preparing its students; and WHEREAS SIUC's paralegal curriculum and the paralegal profession have changed even though the degree program title has not; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate approve the change in the program name in the Paralegal Studies for Legal Assistants to just Paralegal Studies.
