Research into Creativity began immediately upon the formation of the Creative Ethics Group in 1951. That research was presented by way of papers at the annual meeting. Since that time various national conferences have been held.

The first national conference of the Foundation was held October 16-18, 1969 at the University Center of Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

In addition to the conferences and the divisional presentations, the Foundation also sponsors a Dissertation award, a small stipend to the William S. Minor chairholder, and is actively involved in fostering and promoting the study of all aspects of creativity in every venue.
