Virginia L. Cooper - Senior Associate General Counsel for Healthcare Litigation

Virginia Cooper is an attorney at the SIU School of Medicine located in Springfield, Illinois where she is responsible for legal matters involving medical malpractice and risk management issues.

Ms. Cooper has extensive experience both as a medical professional and as a legal practitioner. She practiced as a critical care nurse and surgical nurse for more than thirteen years. In addition, Ms. Cooper has approximately ten years experience as a medical malpractice litigator. She served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the County of County in Chicago, Illinois where she represented John H. Stroger Hospital (Formerly Cook County Hospital), Provident Hospital, Oak Forest Hospital and Cermak Health Services in defense of medical malpractice lawsuits.

Ms. Cooper is a graduate of the Loyola University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She obtained her J.D degree from Regent University School of Law.
