Paige Reed - Associate General Counsel
Paige Reed, originally of DuQuoin, Illinois,
serves as Associate General Counsel (SIUE) at Southern Illinois
University in Edwardsville, Illinois. Ms. Reed received her bachelor's
degree and juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
In 1994, Ms. Reed began her law career as an associate with the
law firm of Jerry B. Smith, Attorney at Law, in DuQuoin, Illinois.
In 1995, she moved to Carbondale, Illinois to work as a prosecutor
for the City of Carbondale. In 1997, she was hired as the City Attorney
for the City of Carbondale. In 2003, she was hired as an Associate
General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel at Southern Illinois
University. In such position, she provides legal advice and representation
to Southern Illinois University on labor and employment-related
matters for non-bargaining employees, discrimination complaints
before administrative agencies, defense of claims before the Illinois
Court of Claims, academic issues, student affairs, institutional
records, campus public safety issues, bankruptcy, disabilities involving
students and employees, institutional policies and constitutional
issues. In the fall of 2005, Ms. Reed transferred from the Carbondale,
Illinois campus to the Edwardsville, Illinois campus to serve as
the lead attorney in labor and employment issues, among others.
Ms. Reed is a member of the Southern Illinois
University Alumni Association, Illinois Bar Association, and the
National Association of College and University Attorneys.
