About Us The GLBT Resource Center opened in January 2007on the campus of Southern Illinois University as a result of recommendations made in the 2005 report: “ Provost’s Ad-hoc Committee on Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgender Issues” http://www.siu.edu/~vcaap/PVC%20GLBT%20report.pdf The offices are staffed by a half-time coordinator, student workers and volunteers and operates during normal university business hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to stop in at any time! Mission Statement The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) Resource Center shall serve as a centrally located, safe campus space that provides educational outreach, referral information and advocacy services, which will add to an inclusive and diverse environment for GLBT students, faculty, staff, families, friends, alumni, and the greater Southern Illinois Community. This mission is consistent and reflective of the Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment diversity statement. Advisory Board The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center Advisory Board, provides advice, support and recommendations to the coordinator of the SIUC GLBT Resource Center. The Board is comprised of students, faculty, and staff who represent areas from across the university, and/or community members and alumnae. The Board's current Chair is Professor David Rush.
