Meeting Minutes for July 10, 2007

Kaskaskia Room, Student Center, 7:00 PM

I. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM.

II. Roll Call

Trey Gossett (Art and Design), Ed Ford (Educational Psychology), Tim Hudspeth (Law), Kristina Dzara (Sociology), Jonathan Remo (Graduate Council), Sara Samson (Vice President for Administrative Affairs), Shelly McGrath (Vice President for Graduate School Affairs).

III. Approval of the Agenda

The agenda was approved as amended.

IV. Approval of the Minutes from June 26, 2007

The minutes were approved as presented.

V. Officer Reports

A. President: Steven Middleton

1. During this Thursday Board of Trustee’s meeting, GPSC will present a letter to the Board of Trustees stating GPSC’s disapproval of the increase cost of library renovations.

B. Vice President for Administrative Affairs: Sara Samson

1. No report.

C. Vice President for Graduate School Affairs: Shelly McGrath

1. GPSC’s new e-mail address is GPSC@siu.edu.

VI. Committee Reports

A. Student Conduct Code Committee

1. The student conduct code is in the process of being reviewed and will be continued to be reviewed during the fall semester. A copy of the conduct code will be provided to GPSC members and the conduct code will be discussed in the fall semester.

VII. Roundtable Discussion

A. The council discussed the proposed uses of the funds transferred from the GPSC account to the USG account. One of Student Development/USG proposed uses was to purchasing electronic equipment for USG/Student Trustee elections. GPSC members expressed interest in becoming involved in deciding how the money should be spent.

VIII. Announcements

Dr. Calhoun’s retirement party will occur on July 13th from 1-3 in the Student center.
