COURSE NO., HOURS AND TITLE: MSFS 240-3 Mortuary Regulations
LECTURE: M W F 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Room: LAWSON 131
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The student will have knowledge of the federal,
state, and local regulations pertaining to the funeral profession. Studies
will include the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations,
Americans with Disabilities Act, Uniform Anatomical Gift Act, the Federal
Trade Commission requirements, Rules and Regulations for the Control of
Communicable Disease and other such regulations governing funeral service.
Lecture three hours. Prerequisite: restricted to majors or consent of instructor.
PREREQUISITE TO: MSFS 225a
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon satisfactory completion of this course, the student shall be able
to:
1. State the objectives and regulations as set forth by OSHA.
2. Describe the requirements set forth by ADA.
3. Explain the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act.
4. List the requirements of the Federal Trade Commission pertaining to
the
funeral profession.
5. List the rules and regulations for the Control of Communicable Diseases.

POLICIES:
1. Attendance: Experience has shown that regular attendance is required
for
a high grade. One point will be given for each class attended. Class begins
when the instructor shuts the door. Once the door is shut, do not interrupt
the class.
2. Deadlines: Assignments are due when scheduled.
3. Make up work: Unless prior arrangements have been made in advance,
make up
exams will be essay. Quizzes may not be made up.
4. Reading: Students are expected to read assigned material before class.
5. Class participation: Class participation is very important in this
class. The instructor encourages questions, comments, and class discussion
and will
consider class participation when determining final grades.
