COURSE DESCRIPTION: The student will learn advanced procedures and techniques
for restoration and cosmetology. Special attention will be placed upon pigments,
visual aspects of color and color schemes, illumination, complexion types
and materials, corrective shaping, wax and cosmetics, and treatment of discolorations.
Lecture three hours. Laboratory two hours. Prerequisite: MSFS 245.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon satisfactory completion of this course, the student will be able
to:
1. Relate specified types of restoration to the correct embalming procedures.
2. Select from a specified cosmetic medium, the correct colorants (compounds)
to achieve a natural appearance under various conditions.
3. Interpret a photograph by evaluating the highlights and shadows of
facial
features.
4. Identify and describe the use of various cosmetic and restorative
treatments,
materials, and equipment.
5. Classify and explain the principles of pigmentary (color) mixtures,
and
relate their application to cosmetic compounds and the influence of adjacent
colors on one another in the funeral setting.
6. Describe the proper procedures for restoration using hypodermic injection
of tissue builders.

POLICIES:
1. Attendance: Experience has shown that regular attendance is required
for
a high grade. One point will be given for each class attended. Class
begins when the instructor shuts the door. Once the door is shut, do not
interrupt the class.
2. Deadlines: Assignments are due when scheduled.
3. Make up work: Unless prior arrangements have been made in advance,
make up
exams will be essay. Quizzes may not be made up.
4. Reading: Students are expected to read assigned material before class.
5. Class participation: Class participation is very important in this
class. The instructor encourages questions, comments, and class discussion
and will
consider class participation when determining final grades.
