Curriculum

The EST curriculum starts with 2-year electronics core curriculum that lays a foundation in electronics that spans essential skills and knowledge required in all areas of industry.

  • DC/AC Fundamentals
  • Digital Fundamentals
  • Communication Fundementals
  • Computer and Networking Fundamentals
  • Sensing and Control Fundementals

At the advanced level students concentrate on at least one area of study particular to their desired career goals. These courses are system based and deal directly with equipment they will work with in industry. Students may also elect to gain the Specialization in Electronics Management for those with work experience through either the on-campus program or at one of six off-campus sites.

The curriculum flow allows entry into the program with only a highschool diploma, with an AAS in Electronics Technology from community colleges, or with appropriate military and industry work experience.

Selected Program Options-34 hours
For best career results students are encouraged to complete as many program options as hours will allow, but all courses in anyone option must be completed for graduation. It is the intent of the program faculty that the students sit for the Certified Electronics Technician (CET) examination after the second year in the program. The curriculum places emphasis on skills necessary to achieve long-term career goals with one of the following segments of the electronics industry:

  1. Biomedical Equipment Technology
  2. Communications Technology
  3. Networking Technology
  4. Industrial Electronics Technology

This degree program allows you to focus your studies in technology management. This curriculum is planned with the experienced technician in mind. Courses focus on the skill and knowledge necessary to evaluate, acquire, maintain, and manage electronics systems.
