The Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Resource Management (TRM):
Prepares technically trained individuals for career advancement into management and supervisory roles. - Applies principles of planning, budgeting, job design, labor relations, and legal codes in order to effectively implement production or operational plans.
- Applies research and data analysis techniques to measure, monitor, and control workplace processes.
- Specialization in Health and Safety Management opens career doors for the Safety Trained Supervisor.
- Union apprenticeship programs can transfer directly into TRM for as many as 43 hours toward the degree.
- Is approved for the Capstone Option (see http://registrar.siu.edu/eval/capstone.htm). Capstone provides a streamlined education pathway to the bachelors degree for graduates of approved Associate of Applied Science degree programs.
Credit for Apprentice training and work experience
Apprentice training can count as direct credit toward the TRM Baccalaureate degree. Your apprenticeship training forms the foundation of your technical training. It is transferred into the degree for as many as 43 hours of technical career elective credit. Evaluation of your training and work experience is performed as part of the admission process.
The Community College Advantage
Community colleges throughout Illinois have developed programs that also integrate union apprenticeship training and general studies coursework into an Associate in Applied Science degrees (AAS). An AAS degree can be transferred to SIUC to create a very efficient 2+2 baccalaureate degree path. Graduates of AAS degree programs may qualify for SIUC’s Capstone option, which reduces the University Core Curriculum (UCC) general eduation requirements from 41 to 30 hours, allowing most transfer students to complete the dgree requirements in 60 credit hours.
