Irish and Irish Immigration Studies
Southern Illinois University at Carbondale
As a teaching and research institution, Southern Illinois University at
Carbondale has many resources that allow for focused, multidisciplinary study
of Ireland and the world-wide dispersal of Irish immigrants on both the
undergraduate and graduate levels. There are interest and expertise in Irish
and Irish Immigration Studies in many departments, among them English,
History, Theater, Sociology, Speech Communication, Psychology, and Library
Affairs. There is a commitment here to the development of courses and programs
in areas such as Irish Studies that cross disciplinary boundaries and combine
fields. Finally, there are significant resources for research available.
