Welcome to the Language Media Center (LMC) at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. The LMC serves the Dept. of Foreign Languages and Literatures, the Center for English as a Second Language and the Department of Linguistics by providing access to instructional technology for language study.
Wanna Collaborate? The Witzbold Project is a world-wide collaboration designed to create a library of Web-based, hypermedia jokes in various languages. All language teachers and students have free access to the jokes for use in improving their reading, listening and comprehension skills. Right now, we are set up to handle any language using the Roman alphabet. We hope to expand to other languages at a later date. The Project involves your students in a fun and educational activity creating hypermedia readers. For details and an example, click here.
