Death and the King’s Horseman, By Wole Soyinka
Directed by Segun Ojewuyi
Featuring special guest artist Ron Himes, St. Louis Black Repertory Theater
This extraordinary and mystical play, based on a true incident, deals with the interruption of African tribal ritual by a British colonial ruler and the perceived effect this has on the balance of life, death, and the power of religion.  Written in 1975 it was performed in Chicago in 1976 and for a limited run on Broadway at the Lincoln Center Theater in 1987.  This play is being presented in co-production with the St. Louis Black Repertory Theater and will feature Founder and Producing Director, Ron Himes.

Guest Speaker - Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka

Wole Soyinka, will speak on Thursday, February 28th at 5 pm. This symposium is being held in conjunction with SIUC Theater Department and St. louis Black Repertory Theater Co.'s joint production of "Death and the King's Horseman." Schedule of Symposium Events - TBA

Persons or Business making donations to the SIUC Department of Theater are called Patrons. These are memebrs of the community who recognize the importance of the work done by this Department and want to offer support. To help meet tuition waiver needs this year, all Patron's donations will go directly to our Scholarship Fund. Patron levels begin as low as $5o for indiviudals and $100 for businesses. Patrons receive:

* Preferred seating in a designated area;
* Recognition in the McLeod Theater programs;
* Personal invitations to our Patron's receptions;
*Invites to special perfomrances and events.
