The SIUC McNair Scholars Program prepares undergraduates to succeed in doctoral study through engaging them in research and scholarly activities in a supportive and cohesive environment. We would like to invite you to apply for this exciting new program!
Our program provides an enriching educational experience for undergraduate students from underrepresented groups, namely minorities to succeed in graduate school, attain a PhD and ultimately enter faculty positions in our nation's colleges and universities. Students must have at least a 2.7 GPA and an interest in pursuing graduate studies.
The SIUC McNair Scholars Program links students with faculty members who provide intensive, hands-on, mentored, paid research experiences during the summer. In addition, students participate in workshops, classes, site visits, conferences, and personal and professional development activities. Through a strong mentoring network, these activities are designed to enhance academic and life skills that lay the foundation for professional success.
This is a two year program and students will be expected to participate throughout the academic year and summer. Please click on the links above to find out more information about our program, application procedures, eligibility requirements and upcoming events
