Dr. Meksem’s research laboratory is focused on the development and refinement of genomic resources and technologies for functional and structural analysis of plants and pathogen genomes, with applications to soybean and its pathogens. [Fungi (SDS: Fusarium virguliforme) and Nematodes (SCN: Heterodera glycines)].

Dr. Meksem's lab developed the first TILLING platform for soybean functional analysis, from 2 cultivars “Forrest and Williams82”.

In collaboration with the private and public sector, the Meksem's lab provided for, the whole genome physical map of the SDS causal agent Fusarium virguliforme (Known as Fusarium solani sp. glycines ) and the molecular characterization of its sexual stages.
