Thanksgiving Break and the Week of Nov. 30 to Dec. 6

Since we will have the third exam on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, it's likely that many of you will spend some of your time during the break preparing for the test. It will cover the notes we have had about the Consumer Decision Process. You also have to know the Consumer Decision-Making Model and the Marketing Maxims (both are part of your syllabus). There will be several problems involving math and I will bring calculators for you to use. No other form of electronics can be used! Also, you will not be allowed to leave the room during the test. Finally, the test period will be over at 10:40 regardless of what time you arrive.

In case you are wondering, yes, we do have class on the Thursday after the test because there are several important things left to do. First, we will do teacher evaluations. Then, I will tell you how I am calculating your final grades so you can decide right then whether or not to take the final that will be on Dec. 11th, @ 10:10 AM. Be sure to come to class on Thursday knowing your point total from Blackboard. If you think you might want to take the final then YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR IT IN CLASS, not later, not by phone, and not by e-mail. By signing up you are not obligated to take it (unless you missed a previous test) but you are indicating that want to have a copy of the test reserved for you.

I will announce the letter grade cut-offs here and in class on Thursday after I see the results of Exam 3. Here is my best guess right now: A = 268-300, B = 238-267, C = 208-237, D = 178-207, F = 0 - 177. If you are not satisfied with your letter grade then your only alternative is to take the final and bring your total points up. But, the issue is not just "doing better" on the final, it's doing so much better that it changes your letter grade. So, you should ask yourself if it is mathematically possible to make a higher grade and if it is reasonable to think you can do that well on the final. It can not hurt your grade to take the final but it may not help it either.

Speaking of the final, there will be two times when you can come look at the exams we had this semester if you think it will help you study. Once I reserve the room I will announce the exact times. My guess is that there will be a time on Monday and another time on Tuesday of Finals week. In both cases you should come to the conference room of the Marketing Dept. suite (Rehn Hall 229).
