Joseph Breznikar is one of America's finest and most respected classical guitarists. He has distinguished himself internationally as a performer, teacher, recording artist, composer and arranger for the guitar.
Mr. Breznikar has appeared in such prestigious performance venues as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the White House, Yale University, and New York's 92nd Street Y, as well as performing concerts in the Far East, Eastern Europe and South America.
He is commitment to endowing the guitar's literature with relevant new works include Ned Rorem's Suite for Guitar, a work commissioned for him by the Cleveland Orchestra, several world premiere performances including works by Guido Santorsola, and his own innovative Twelve American Etudes for Guitar which have received high critical acclaim for their technical comprehension and musical essence and are published by Mel Bay Publications, Inc. Other arrangements by Mr. Breznikar are published by Boosey and Hawkes, and Columbia Music Company.

Joseph Breznikar is professor of music at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he directs the program in classical guitar studies. He is considered a master teacher of the guitar who is much sought after and as a result he has conducted a Summer Guitar Seminar during the month of June at SIU-C since 1981. Mr. Breznikar has premiered and recorded his exciting work, Cascade, A Rhapsody for Guitar and Chamber Orchestra. The first performance of Cascade outside of Southern Illinois took place in St. Louis at the Sheldon Concert Hall on November 10, 1998.
