The School of Music has a limited number of music scholarships available for freshmen and transfer students in the form of partial or full tuition waivers for Fall and Spring semester. The awards are available to non-music majors, but preference is given to music majors.
An audition is required and may take place on one of our special dates.
The scholarship audition dates:
November 10, 2007.......................................................SIUC campus
November 17, 2007................................................... Chicago area
December 8, 2007 ...............................................St. Louis metro area
or by appointment.
Deadline for scholarship applications:
January 31, 2008
Non-scholarship auditions:
February 16, 2008...............................SIUC campus
If you prefer, an alternate date may be arranged by contacting the School of Music office. If travel to the above locations is inconvenient, a taped audition will be accepted. The deadline for all applications is January 31 of each year.
Audition procedures may vary, but in general you should prepare a solo (preferably accompanied) and any other musical selections you are currently studying which you feel would best demonstrate your musicianship. Instrumentalists may also be asked to play scales and to sight-read. Click here for more suggestions for audition material.
