Those who have or
will have finished their secondary school education by March 2003 can
apply for admission to SIUC-N for the year of 2003. There are four kinds
of admissions: High School Recommendation, Self Recommendation, Scholarship,
and General Admission. Admission will be by document investigation, interview
or/and TOEFL score, depending on the category of admission.
High School Recommendation:
Applications are accepted from September 9 to December 13, 2002. Applicants
must have a recommendation from the high school principal and an overall
GPA of 3.0 or above at the high school level.
General Admission:
There are a total of 4 general admission tests. Admission is based on
submitted documents and an interview which will be conducted in Japanese.

Self Recommendation:
Applications are accepted from July 22 to September 6, September 9 to
October 25, October 28 to December 26. An interview will be conducted
in addition to a review of personal documents. The interview will be conducted
in Japanese only.
Scholarship:
An interview in English and Japanese and the TOEFL are required for admission.
Scholarship tests will be held twice. The first date is Sunday, December
15, 2002. Applications for the first test are accepted from October 28
to December 12. The second test date is Sunday, March 16, 2003 and applications
are accepted from January 6 to March 13.
Applicants for Scholarship admission must meet one of the
following requirements:
1. Overall GPA of 4.5 or above in high school
2. TOEFL score of 450 or above, TOEIC score of 600 or above,
Eiken 2nd grade or higher or those who possess similar level of English
skills.
3. An outstanding achievement in cultural activities, sports
or other talents.
All applicants for admission to SIU-N must:
- Have graduated or will graduate from high school in Japan by March,
2003
- Have or will have a certificate of passing of University Entrance
Qualification
Examination administered by Ministry of Education by March, 2003
- Have completed or will complete the 12 years of education in an educational
institute in any foreign country by March, 2003
- Have completed or will complete a training school which has more
than a
three-year program by March, 2003
