Research:
After completing his dissertation entitled "Inhibiting the
a-Amylase
from Aspergillius flavus: A Novel Approach to Reduce Aflatoxin
Contamination in Corn", Dr. Fakhoury joined the Fungal Physiology and
Mycotoxin Genetics Lab at North Carolina State University, directed by Dr.
Gary Payne. Dr. Fakhoury's research included developing genetic
markers for resistance to aflatoxin accumulation and using functional
genomics techniques to characterize novel genes involved in aflatoxin
biosynthesis.
