Clinical placements provide the student an opportunity to develop, write, and implement behavior plans for persons suffering from mental illness, traumatic brain injury, or dementia.  The Behavioral Consultation Group has placed students in facilities in the local Carbondale area and the surrounding region.  Students often conduct functional analyses and preference assessments, and then develop interventions including noncontingent reinforcement, functional communication training, delayed reinforcement choice paradigms, and differential reinforcement of other behaviors.  Training on computerized data collection and analysis is also provided.

CURRENT RESEARCH:

Organizational placements provide the student an opportunity to develop and implement behavioral interventions designed to improve employee performance, aid in the development of employee compensation strategies, or strengthen organizational effectiveness.  The Behavioral Consultation Group has placed students in service and industry settings in a variety of roles.  Students often conduct staff training protocols, performance improvement assessments, and collect individual employee and organizational-wide data.  Afterwards, proposals for organizational change are developed and presented to corporation management.
