Specializations:
Behavior analysis as it pertains to
children, families, disability and community affairs. Brandon F. Greene is a
Professor in the Behavior Analysis and Therapy Program. He received degrees from
the
University of Alabama
(B.S., 1973), the
University of Kansas
(M.A., 1975) and
Florida State University
(Ph.D., 1979). Brandon's professional
career began at Partlow State School in the wake of the landmark case,
Wyatt vs. Stickney, that established a right to treatment for
persons with mental retardation and other disabilities. Brandon's research,
teaching and service activities involve the application of behavior analysis as
it pertains to a broad range of populations (children, families, persons with
disabilities) and issues (child abuse and neglect, education, home and community
safety, staff and organizational management). He has published extensively and
has worked for, or consulted with, a variety of organizations that are concerned
with similar issues including human service agencies, schools, federal courts,
and Ralph Nader's Center for Study of Responsive Law. Brandon co-founded the
Behavior Analysis Society of Illinois (BASIL), a state chapter of the
Association of Behavior Analysis dedicated to promoting the effective and
ethical application of behavior analysis in human services, business and
industry. Brandon coordinates
Project 12-Ways, a program that provides
behavioral intervention and support services to families with a history of child
abuse and neglect and families who may be at risk for acquiring such a history.
The project has expended approximately $11,000,000, has served over 2,000
families, and supported and trained approximately 130 graduate students since
its inception in 1979. Brandon teaches courses in Staff Training and
Development, and a seminar in child abuse and neglect.
