On behalf of
our faculty and staff, along with our approximately 800 on- and off-campus students, I would like to welcome you to
the School of Allied Health.
We have approximately 75 full and part-time faculty and staff who are devoted to the
six programs of study in our School. Our on-campus programs are: Dental
Hygiene, Health Care Management, Mortuary Science and Funeral
Service, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Radiologic Sciences.
These programs are taught at the associate, baccalaurate or master levels.
In addition, we offer Health Care Management
through Off-Campus Academic Programs and Medical Dosimetry as a Post-Baccalaurate degree
through distance education.
Presently, health care professions are among the fastest growing careers. Graduates
from our respectable and reputable programs have very good pass rates on licensing
examinations and find immediate employment. As many of these programs are enrollment
managed with limited enrollment, please contact us
for information about requirements and prerequisites. This will be the first step to a promising
job opportunity. If you have any admission questions or other concerns such as transfer
of credits, please do not hesitate to contact us at (618) 453-7211.
Our main office is Room C0018 in the Applied Sciences and Arts Building located
across from the Arena and in front of Campus Lake. This building also houses many
of our classrooms and labs, in addition to our Dental Hygiene Clinic and Community Dental
Center. The Mortuary Science and Funeral
Service program works in conjunction with the School of Medicine to provide an anatomic
donation program for teaching, scientific study and research. The Diagnostic Medical
Sonography students from our Radiologic Sciences program provide free obstetrical
ultrasound examinations as a service to the women of southern Illinois. These are only
a few examples of involvement with the community. Many of our programs offer internship
and clinical sites, not only locally, but also throughout the United States.
Thank you for your interest in the School of Allied Health.
