Central Research Shop Technology Room B55 / College of Engineering Gregory D. Moroz, Supervisor
|
|
The Central Research Shop is
supported by the Office
of Research Development and Administration. Its purpose is to provide
researchers with a facility where they can have the specialized technical
problems of research apparatus and equipment solved with a minimum of cost and
delay. To achieve this end, the C.R.S. maintains and staffs facilities for
woodworking, welding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, electrical and
electronics operations, as well as short run manufacturing. It has the
capability to design, produce, test, modify and repair custom equipment used to
fulfill special research requirements as well as standard laboratory equipment.
The C.R.S. also functions as a consultant to the researcher in answering
questions concerning availability, feasibility, methodology, quality control,
and techniques of all types of equipment, materials, or problem solving modes
related to the physical - industrial - scientific methods of expediting
research. These services are available to
faculty, staff, and researchers campus-wide at a rate of $20 per hour. The
C.R.S. also provides these services to accommodate other educational
institutions and the private sector at a rate of $30 per hour. Charges for parts
and materials used during the construction are in addition to the hourly rate.
These charges are designed with the intent of recovering all operating expenses,
with the exception of the Supervisor's salary. The facility, which is open during
normal working hours, is located at Technology Building, Room B55, on the campus
of SIUC. |
