Mental illness takes many different forms, from short term depression or anxiety to serious mood disorders. Effective treatments for mental illness are available and can provide relief from symptoms in just a few weeks. Confidential resources for university counseling services are the primary care option for many SIUC students seeking mental health treatment. The new Student Health Center houses three mental health resources: Counseling Center, Wellness Center and Mental Health Clinic. The Mental Health Clinic offers psychiatric, and psychological services including assessments, medications, short and long term counseling for students with serious mood disorders. With help from the Clinic students can restore, maintain, or improve the quality of their living and learning. The Mental Health Clinic is located on the first floor of the Student Health Center.
