Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) has a distinguished record of international education since the enrollment of its first international student in 1946.
With a priority on quality programs and services for international students, SIUC has ranked as high as sixth in the nation in terms of international enrollment. The university also is recognized as a pioneer in the training of Peace Corps volunteers and as a leader in the number and quality of externally funded projects, programs, and services.
International educational exchange is a key component of the institution's international agenda. SIUC maintains over 100 formal linkage agreements with institutions and agencies in 48 countries. Implicit in these linkages is the two-way movement of people, ideas, and knowledge at the student, faculty, and community levels.
Welcome to the Saluki Family. The current Transfer Course Articulations Report is available for your review at: http://registrar.siu.edu/eval/frgnlist.htm. Please note that the articulations are not complete. We need your help to update the existing information and to create new articulation agreements.
| Q | May I have credit for the major courses I have completed at an overseas institution? |
|---|---|
| A | The equivalency of your major courses will be given consideration. |
| Q | Where do I go to have the equivalency review done? |
| A | You need to submit the English version of your course descriptions to the Office of International Admissions. Please note that the review will be more accurate if you submit your course syllabi. |
| Q | I need to register for my classes, how long will this process take? |
| A | This could be a lengthy procedure. The review of major courses is not done by the staff of International Admissions. We usually have a response in two to eight weeks |
| Q | Do I have to wait that long before I can register for my classes? |
| A | No Way! Please do go see your Academic Advisor. The Advisor will help you to register for those courses that are not being considered for advanced equivalency credit. |
| Q | Will a review be done for possible additional core currivulum credit? |
| A | The Core courses are automatically viewed during the initial evaluation of your course work. However, the submission of the course syllabi will allow us to determine if the equivalency should be upgraded to a higher level course. This process may require that International Admissions seek assistance from the faculty to give you the greater opportunity for articulation. |
| Q | May I submit the documents to the faculty myself? |
| A | The official procedure is as explained above. Students who have not followed these directives have delayed their date of graduation. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you allow the staff of International Admissions to coordinate the equivalency reviews for you. |
