The English Department operates
four Writing Centers across campus
open to all SIUC students who would like assistance with any aspect of
their writing:
The Writing Center in Room 2281 of Faner
Hall serves the central campus and is open Monday through Thursday
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Lentz Writing Center in the lower-level
computer lab of Lentz Hall serves the west campus and is open
Sunday
through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Trueblood Writing Center in the lower
level computer lab of Trueblood Hall serves the east campus and
is open Sunday 6-9 p.m. through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Morris Library Writing
Center
will be closed until further notice due to Library construction.
The Writing Center serves a variety of students through weekly appointments
and single-visit sessions. The majority of our tutoring sessions are
devoted to weekly appointments during which students meet with the same
tutor for a 50 minute session. Students can keep their appointment for
the entire semester as long as they attend regularly. Our single-visit
sessions begin on the hour and last for 50 minutes as well. Students
can make a single-visit appointment up to two days prior to the session.
See our Hours
and Locations page for links to the tutor schedules of the four
locations.
For students who would like to use our services, we offer more detailed
information on the Student Information page,
including answers to frequently asked questions
and suggestions for making the most of your visit.
The Writing Center has an attendance policy
for weekly appointments to keep sessions
available for students who will use them and
single-visit
sessions to sustain the Center's mission of helping students become
more effective editors of their own writing.
For faculty members interested in our services,
we offer more detailed information on
Our Pedagogy page,
including instructions for referring students and introducing classes to
the Writing Center.
